Verizon bloat question

I keep reading about bloat and searching from this android all is not yielding any results.

I wanna root my d1 for practice as soon as my wife picks a new phone.

Then when I get my new phone I will be a ready.

you're talking about the verizon apps right?

You can root and download root explorer and rename the files so that they don't show up in the app drawer. That's how I did it anyway, didn't erase them, but just hid them

Not sure I completely understand what you are asking. If you want to know what they are it is like dezymond said. Extra apps VZW has added that you can not remove without root access. And I did the same thing to freeze them in my D1 days. Plus you get root explorer which is my favorite root app and a great file manager IMO.

I was just wanting to know what people were referring to when they said Verizon bloat.

If you root and the phone messes up is there a way to factory reset it? What site is the best to learn how to root?

Yes there is a way to reset the phone. I guess it depends on what your issue is though. You could always do what is called SBF and fully reset it to stock so I would look up how to do that.

And I learned to do all this stuff from this website. Although admittedly I never rooted a D1 before but I know there is a really good guide on how to do it in the Droid Laboratory section on this site.

The Vzw bloat would be all the pushed software that comes on your phone. The ones that you probably will never use and will always be there until you root your phone.

Thanks for all the help. I wanna root the dinc2 that Verizon is sending as a replacement but that will be the wife's when the prime comes out for me.

No problem. And I am going to be looking at that bad boy too once I get my upgrade mid November!

I've had upgrade since March and was waiting on the bionic. Now it's the prime

Anyone know where the Prime specs can be reviewed? A comparison matrix would be nice.
