Currently have service with Virgin Moble. Got a Motorola Droid 2 Global phone from Verizon. Can this phone be unlocked and used on the Virgin Mobile network? Do not need the Droid Apps, just voice service.

Yes and no

1. You must get the SIM Unlock code from Verizon to accomplish this
A. You are required to have the phone activated for so long of time to get this code
B. Account must be in good standing for a set period of time as well

2. You must modify the radio of the original firmware (the .29 firmware originally shipped with)
3. You must root the accomplish the second step.
4. The GSM carriers sometimes use a different frequency than is supported on this phone (TMobile 3G does NOT work, 2G does)
5. Here's the links for more info...

The first link will provide a flashable ZIP file that will modify the NVRAM for your radio so it can be used on US carriers
The second link will provide a second flashable ZIP file that will upgrade the kernel (without touching your radio files) so you can use any Gingerbread based D2G rom.
