Unable to root D2G

I'm loving CM7. It boots up faster, I have more free memory and there's no bloatware :biggrin:

Look around and read up first. If you have any questions PLEASE use the cm7 for droid2 global users thread. There are detailed instructions in the OP and the cm dev team is quick to help.

Linux version of Pete's worked great for me on two d2gs.

I've been down almost this exact same path only I'm on a windows machine, and I still cannot root. Tried both z4root and Pete's Motorola Tools. Pete's seems to think its working but nothing gets SU permission including SU itself. I have tried to update the SU binary from within the app and it cant get root access which makes me think I am not rooted. What can I do?
