Before 2.1, there was a transparent 2.1 apk for news and weather.

I still have it, but since 2.1 now incorporates it natively, I can't install it.
(it will show as open or uninstall in astro)

does anyone know who made that, and if they might be working on a version to be used in 2.1?

In fact, for other users, I'll attach it here.

I did mine myself with 2.1 (or did you mean something else?)

Uninstall or delete the one on the phone and then try and install it using astro. If you have rootexplorer you can copy and paste it into the /system/app and change the permissions and it should work. The one I did works on 2.1 and it worked on 2.01. Assuming you are rooted.

Yeah, not rooted yet, but I figured that it will work, the issue is now with 2.1 it's a core app, so trying to install will give me those results, whereas on 2.0.1 it was just a new app to install.

guess I'll be rooting in a bit hehehe ...
