from what I have been reading you cannot delete more than one email at a time on the Turbo
Just curious, what happens when you pick one message and long press on it?

What app are you using for email? I have no problem selecting multiple emails in, quite frankly, any app.

Just reread this whole thread. It does sound like she's using the stock app.
You certainly can select multiple emails in that stock app. Not sure why you are having a problem with this.
Does your stock app look like this, with the little boxes to the left of the email:

Different versions of what?
No. Let's agree it's user error. And I am not using that term to be rude or insulting.
You're not doing it something right, or your phone is broken, Sugee.

Every version of the STOCK EMAIL program in any version of Android on every single phone supports "Multiple Click to select" or whatever we want to call that. Since Froyo, at least.

Please show me where Motorola or Verizon say you can't do this.

Just shot this. Stock app. Moto Turbo.

I don't think anyone is claiming to know more than Motorola or Verizon. And no one is intentionally trying to be insulting. We are all just trying to help each other learn more about our phones. I just did a quick internet search and found exactly what @PereDroid has mentioned and shown in his video on the Verizon forum and the Motorola forum. Both of those forums have posts with the same question in this thread. And both of those forums have the same answer: "long press" the first message and then select others with a short tap.

Long pressing one email, or tapping the colored square selects one, then you can tap other emails on the colored square to select more. And when you press delete, it asks "Delete these # conversations?" (Provided "Confirm before deleting" is enabled)

So yes, in the stock Moto email app, you can delete multiple emails at once.

I think my original message got misconstrued
original> why must I delete the emails from Thunderbird ONE AT A TIME
and then again from the trash ONE AT A TIME

yes I can long press and then choose mail
ONE AT A TIME & then delete
I guess I should have asked how to chose all and then delete so I don't have to click on 30 emails to delete all one at a time

There are a few things we can all agree on now. After reading a bit, Motorola changed the Email app on the Turbo. From the Droid 1 all the way to the Droid Maxx the Email app looked very much the same. Now, with the Turbo they changed it to the Moto X style Email app and it looks similar to the G Mail app. There is no Select All or Delete All option. We were just trying to help people reading this understand that you can select more than one message at a time to delete, that is still possible. Just no option to select all at once, you have to click each one to select them and then do a mass delete

Yea, the way you worded that is misleading.
First, its not Thunderbird. Thunderbird is a computer program.
Second, you make it sound like you have to: click 1, click delete, click 1, click delete.
You can click, click, click, click, click x 10, and delete.
You can click 5, 10, 20 and batch delete.
You cannot select all and delete.
OK, now we are clear.
In the Thunderbird Program on your computer is an option to > empty the trash when you exit Thunderbird. This will empty the trash on your email account, then your phone will synch that change and clear the trash on your phone.
At least it should.
