We all knew this would be coming soon. The aging Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 have been updated by Google all the way to the latest build of Android 7.1.1, but they won't receive any updates past this version of Android. This means they will not be receiving the new 7.1.2 update. They will however continue to receive security updates indefinitely. Both of these devices are well past the window of support published by Google which ended in October 2016.

Considering they weren't even suppose to get 7.1.1 and here we are with it time will tell. If it doesn't so be it at least it is on 7.1.1. Plus it is about that time to start talking about O - talk.

I thought the whole thing about Nougat was that you could upgrade the OS easier, by just flashing one part of the image in another partition. Wasn't this called Seamless Updates?
Seamless updates means Android N will now update in the background
