Text App consistently forecloses

I cannot text without the app completely foreclosing. I cannot scroll down to see my texts without the app closing out. The phone is always shutting off and rebooting. It takes forever to associate the contact names to the phone number on the screen whenever I'm viewing the text application. The few times I'm able to review a text. I cannot always respond to the text. When I attempt to type it stalls or lags, then it forecloses and takes me back to the homescreen. I have to do this all over again. I have about 40 texts that I haven't been able to review since I've had this phone because it refuses to scroll down without foreclosing. I tried downloading Handcent hoping that would resolve the issues. Handcent works a little better but it consistently forecloses too. What is causing the texting issues?

You're not killing tasks are you? Don't.

The text app on the X seems like a piece of junk. Hopefully the update will fix it.

I would recommend Handcent, but I see you've already tried that.

You could sign up for Google Voice and get free texting. Very cool!
