Can anyone tell me if a download speed of 1163 kbps and up load of 471 kbps is normal on a stock Droid X

Thats decent if your not in town I supose. I get about 500 up and down kbps in the country where I live. But just for the heck of it I drove by the cell tower today and got a 2200kbps download and like a 500 upload.

So running a speed test ( mine 50 miles from test site) is really just a waste of time since variations can be enormous, your phone can be great on minute and poor the next.

Just ran a test and got 610 kbps down and 640 kbps up. A second test immediately after had 544/698. Just depends on network usage, really.

Main thing is how far you are from a tower and what is between you and that tower.

The speed you are getting really has nothing to do with the Droid X, but more of your location in relevance to the towers (signal strength).
