slow 3g speeds and low reception bars

Hello all. My first post and I don't think I've seen this topic yet. The wife and I upgraded our phones. She got the MOTO Droid I got the INC. For the most part I love this phone. But my problem is that I seem to have 1/2 the reception bars that here MOTO has at any time. The 3g icon is also never lit up unless I'm in the web, but that maybe normal. We has side by side tested real world performance by streaming movie trailers with the same app. On the MOTO.everything is faster from boot time to loading of the trailer. In fact my inc wouldnt even load the clip. So I imaging something isn't right. Do you have any ideas on things I should try before taking it back to.Verizon?

Just wanted to add that I checked the signal rating on both phones and both were at 73.

I have the same problem with mine. I compared my gf Moto Droid and my new HTC Incredible.

Signal
Moto Droid: -83 to -85
HTC incredible: -90 to -93

I try the *228 trick and selected 2, reprograms, reboots, same results.

On the other hand the call quality my HTC is better than her Droid and the 3G speed on mine is faster
