Skype vs skype mobile

Can anybody tell me the difference.
I just called my brother in switzerland via skype mobile and it seemed like I was using minutes not data. My phone said it was calling atlanta georgia.

Should I be using just skype?

I want totally free call, using data not minutes.

Let me also add I am calling an iphone, don't care about video, voice is good enough

I believe the one released by verizon uses minutes, but the other uses data (initially it only worked on wifi, but following the discovery of the security debacle that allowed any app to read your skype data, skype updated the general market version to support cell data as well)


..I could be wrong though ???
