Can't delete the skype mobile app

There's a skype mobile app that comes on the phone when you buy it and I can't delete it for some reason. Its basically just using battery life since I don't use skype.

There's nothing you can do. The phone providers force it on us. The best you may be able to do is force stop it in settings/applications

Only way to remove it is to root and remove it that way (or root and rename the .apk file to .bak, which will essentially hide the app from the system)

fyi, if you root and remove/rename any apps.... they must be added back or renamed back to an .apk file in order to receive updates.

If you root your phone you can get rid of it. If that is something you want to do there is tons of info on here about it.

Rooting is the start.

Easiest to root, then buy Titanium Backup and "freeze" apps like skype, kindle, etc...

Renaming apk's is an option I used and does work, but is time consuming and requires you to know a little more about trudging through the dx via Terminal Emulator.
