i've seen it before but i dont know for certian
a bidder asked if it had a clean ESN

i've done a factory reset on the phone and sd card and took out the sim card.
her number was already transfered over to her new phone(droid 4).

so does the phone now have a clean ESN?

ESN is for Electronic Serial Numbe. The ESN will be clean provided the phone isn't stolen and that the person who originally owned the phone fulfilled their obligation on their contract.

In otherwords they want to make sure Verizon will activate it.

Yep, since your wife already has a different phone activated on her account (which means the RAZR has been removed the account), the ESN is clean.

You can verify it if you want by going here on Verizon's site and put the number from the RAZR in. If it says it can be activated, then the ESN is clean and ready to go.http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=serviceOnly&action=enterEsn
