Rooting not going well

I dont know if I want to return my phone back to stock or not. Ive had my phone rooted for about 4 months now and it just keeps on making me more angry everytime I use it. My mother has the same phone and I usually compare hers and mines alot and I notice how fast her phone responds as apposed to mine. She doesnt have alot of applications or do alot with her phone but everything I click on her phone opens immediately. My phone is OC to 1GHZ and Im currently using CM6 but Ive noticed how sometimes it takes like 4-5 seconds to come out of sleep mode and when opening applications like handcent it takes almost 10 seconds to open up. Could the fact that I have over 50 applications on the phone as well as over 4000 txt messages saved be a reason???

I have a rooted Droid. I've used several different roms. Some work well on my phone and some not so well. You can try freeing up some cache by downloading a cache cleaner from the market and/or try a different rom. Is CM 6 the most current?

Number of applications-no, but what those apps are, how they are interacting, what you have running at any given time, kernels, OC settings, themes, etc. probably do.

Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet here, but there is certainly hope to improve the performance.

There are a few ways to go here, I guess.

Option 1 would be to completely burn the thing down to stock, take it for a run to see how you like it, then root again, if you feel the need to, and start adding things back in as far as apps, kernels, ROMs, etc.

Option 2 would be to try to take a more surgical approach and try to eliminate potentially offending apps and settings to see if that improves things. Of course, that is going to take some experimentation and will probably take longer and be a less efficient approach, but you won't be starting from scratch.

Your OP doesn't have a lot of detail, but from what you describe, two things come to my mind.

First, if you have a task killer running-stop it. In V2.2 they cause more problems than they solve.

Second, look at your SetCPU settings. Try turning off profiles and playing with settings to see if that helps, particularly with the wake-up issue.

Odds are, what you are experiencing is actually due to a combinations of things, so it might take a few different stabs at different things to fix everything.

Well I turned off profiles in SetCPU and uninstalled some unneeded applications and the response has greatly increased. I just wonder how my battery life will fare??? The phone is also getting a little bit hotter now as well.

Well, now you have a lead as to what was causing at least some of the issues. now starts the experimentation to get everything optimized.

While this is like not the entire answer to your "big picture", some help with SetCPU settings can be found here:

Some experimentation with other kernels may be in order as well.
