Welcome to the Forum....

Not sure on the Folder question as I don't use folders.
I am sure someone will chime in here....

Add an app to the new folder.
Tap the folder so it opens
At the top of you will see FOLDER
Long tap (press and hold)
A new screen will open and allow you to rename.
Tap the highlighted form and the keyboard will appear

You don't even need to add an app to the new folder before renaming it. Just open the folder and long press on the header of the folder and the edit box opens.

Thanks. I tried that before but was not able to get the edit box to appear.

Check out the free app called apps organizer. You can make icons on your homescreen instead of the plain yellow folders.

All four icons on the bottom are from apps organizer, as well as the multimedia icon.

Those Powerstrip icons are from Home++, a free Home replacement app in the Marketplace. There are more icons in the powerstrip, they are customizable and you can scroll through the ones that aren't showing on the screen.
