Removing a screen protector?

I have a Droid 1 with a Steinheil Crystal Screen Protector. The protector has been on my phone for about a year and I'm trying to remove it to swap it out with a new one. I can't get the old one off. I've tried scotch tape and toothpicks, suggestions from googling this problem. Does anyone else have an idea? It's driving me nuts... Thanks.

Use a razor blade or sharp knife to lift the edge of it, but be VERY careful.

Some of us have the bad habit of biting our nails =x My nails are completely worthless as any sort of tool.
