pressing volume buttons together

so..i was messing with my phone and pressed the volume buttons together and it vibrated once. then a few seconds later it vibrated 3 times very rapidly.

anyone know what this is? i tried it on my fiance's droid 3 and it did the same thing.

this is with the phone on btw. not off.

How odd. I didn't get the initial vibration, but, did get the three a few seconds later. Gonna try on my ladies phone in a bit here.

make sure the screen is on. press the 2 buttons together and wait a tick. you should feel one, then 3. very curious.

It looks like having silent mode enabled / vibrate always turned on has an effect on the first vibrate. The set of three is consistent though.

it almost feels like its supposed to launch something, then when it doesnt, it gives that little tripple vibe as some sort of "Failed" error.

My Droid 3 on new firmware (890) does not exhibit this behavior.

Mine does it too (on the latest .890 firmware). And its not accidentally going into silent mode because I put it up to max volune and I pressed both buttons and it did three quick vibrations.

Mine does it too, it could just be a hardware test feature for diagnostic purposes.
