Well, I'm 15, and I was wondering if anyone knew the legal age to carry a pocketknife. I researched online, but the laws are in lawyer talk and aren't easy to understand. Some sites say you have to be 16 or older to carry a pocketknife but I'm not sure how true that is.....

Now I know you can't carry one in school, especially catholic schools (I attend). The only reason I would/want to carry one is because I'm a real handy person. Always fixing things around the house and wherever I am. I once fixed a gate at some random park I was in :p ..

The blade on the knife is only 1 7/16 inches long, which is WAY under the standard for carrying any knife. (Law is 4" or below)
I usually have it attached to my keys, which are either in my pocket or backpack. Real reason I'm asking is because after 911, its gotten much stricter, and since its not a Swiss Army knife, I was wondering if I could get into trouble. BTW, Swiss Army knives are legal no matter the blade length because it's considered a tool.

- 265.04. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age
of sixteen to possess any... dangerous knife... A person
who violates the provisions of this section shall be
adjudged a juvenile delinquent. [Found unconstitutionally
vague by Superior Court, 1982; finding reversed by Court
of Appeals, 1983]
Is a pocketknife considered "a dangerous knife"?
