New To ROM's Looking For Some Help

I have the Droid X, i just recently rooted it and downloaded Gameboid so far i love being rooted and having the Gameboy ROM - but i see alot of people with ROMs that change the look and feel of their phone, Ive seen one called UltimateDroid and i really like it, I downloaded ROM Manager the free version but cant find that one anywhere - Can someone explain to me what exactly a ROM is/does and where i could find a good one, i would really appreciate some help thanks guys.

yea shows how new i am to it all, do you know what the definition is for a ROM exactly? Maybe you could help me out

a rom is a modified version of the Android OS that developers add extra things to such as themes, apps, and more settings.
