my phone auto deletes my conversations

Every once in a while my phone completely deletes all my text messege conversations. Is there a setting I am unaware of? I have it set to hold 1000 texts in each convo. Does that do something?

Unless you are over that limit in your settings it shouldn't be deleting them. My girlfriend had the problem using Handcent but the messages were getting deleted because the original message app was set to delete after 200 and she didn't look at those settings since she never opened the OEM txt app.
