My Files transfer very slow over wifi

I've tried several times to transfer files from my PC using the stock "my files" app, both via motocast and LAN, but the transfers are incredibly slow. It seems as though the speed is ok but it has trouble finishing each file, so it will delay before starting the next file... A folder of 20 e books took so long it actually stopped altogether before it finished them all

Does anyone else have this issue? A: is there a fix? Or B: would an alternative file app work better? Which one? Support for motocast isn't necessary, but it is nice...

It's that app. Move the same files to the same location on a network share using something like ES File Explorer and notice the difference.
