Cash is still king in my book. Utilities, insurance, taxes and monthly part bills get checks. Other than the parts I buy everything gets paid months in advanced or yearly. What's a debit card? Never use one unless it says Wells Fargo on the building. And all the auto-pay horror stories I've heard quashes that scenario.

Cash works best for me for immediate purchases. Also use debit, credit, checks, and EFT's. Hard to know what is safest these days.
