Since I did this and verizon wont initially update pros to gingerbread till 3rd quarter, will my phone still get the planned update OTA??

Vzw themselves put out a statement about it. Do u have any idea if it will update?

since the update came from verizon, i'm assuming that when the OTA update comes, you'll be able to get it. but again, i'm assuming so someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Verizon never put out a statement about it. The rumor of Q3 release came from a post on the Motorola forums by a staff member there. The post was subsequently edited to remove the predict times of release.

As for the final OTA update, it may or may not come through. My guess is that it would since the update that's been floating around did come OTA from Verizon. Sometimes they lock out phones that have updated via a leaked file, but this one was leaked.
