My friend said Android phones can be jailbreaked, but I thought that was a IOS specific thing. I thought Rooting, was the proper term.

maybe I am looking at this wrong.

Is Rooting, and Jailbreaking, two different things on a Android?

or are they the same thing, with didnt terms/names?dancedroid:iphone:

Jailbreaking is iOS, because it breaks you out of of the Apple/iTunes jail. Rooting is Android because Android is Linux and you're providing Root-User (superuser) access.

For casual conversation (and legal reasons) they're the same. However, you can show your friend up by repeating what I just said, and score some geek points with the ladies/gents. :)
