Is there an app?

    To scan and save images/text that works well?

    If you hold on an image long enough on a page, it will offer to let you save it. If you go to copy on the text menu then paste you should be able to save that way. If you mean an application that works beyond that, then I too would be very interested to hear of an alternative.

    I'm guessing the OP means in real life versus on screen?

    I've heard very good things about Evernote but I think it stores data in the cloud. Haven't used it so I can't comment on it first hand.

    App called Save MMS.... works well.
