I feel like a complete moron for not being able to figure this out. I transferred some tones onto my sd card but when I got into my notification tones, only the stock tones are listed. How can i use a custom tone?

What about version 2.2?

I can't find a folder called notifications on my sd card after updating from 2.1 to 2.2.

Same question though. How do I copy a custom mp3 to the dx and use it as a text message notification?

Thanks in advance,

Denny Jones

Found it:

How do I assign my music as a custom ringtone for text messages?
From the Motorola Website:
=====================

Create a folder on the microSD card and name it "notifications" - small caps. Use an SD card reader to do this from your PC. (Not required)
Copy any compatible audio file you want to set as a message notification to that folder.
Insert the SD card back into your phone.
Go to Messaging and press the menu key.
Touch Settings
Touch Select ringtone.
You should be able to locate your audio files there and set them.
