When nfc is on it doesn't show in notification bar. Is their an app or widget that can show the status?

I don't think NFC has ever shown in the Notification panel on Android. I don't remember ever seeing it on my Razr M, Droid Maxx, Droid Turbo, Turbo 2, Moto G4+, Z Play, or Z Force.

I leave it On at all times. And have for over 4 years. It's so easy to share a pic, song, file, etc. with someone in my home. But I have never considered a Notification panel icon telling me it's turned On. That would drive me crazy. Most people turn it On and leave it On, so who would want a constant Notification that NFC is On? Probably no one.

I keep mine turn off. I found some stores, when you are shopping, will send you ads using it and besides, the phone is more secure when it is off.

So an attacker would have to be within 31 inches of my phone for an extended period of time (more than a few seconds). That's not gonna happen....no one invades my personal space.

who knows if that 31 inches is still the max. normally you would be right about personal space but...how often do you go to restaurants and someone sits in a booth behind you or you are in some long line or even in church or other places where people can be 31 inches from you. unfortunately it is something you have to consider these days. I know it may seem far fetched but...starting to stray off topic so I will stop here.

All of my Sammy devices from the original Galaxy S to my current S8 Plus have shown the NFC icon in the notification bar.

The Moto's don't seem to have an icon. I manually keep it off until I need it with a shortcut to settings.

That must be Samsung specific; something they include in their Launcher.

I don't think any Moto phone has had the NFC icon in the Notification tray. At least not since 2013 when they started using stock vanilla Android.
