How get notification bar to show nfc is on

I don't think any Moto phone has had the NFC icon in the Notification tray. At least not since 2013 when they started using stock vanilla Android.

It is very possible that Moto's Launcher 3 had an NFC icon in the Notification panel up until Nougat and I just don't remember it. I am getting older and forget things sometimes. Sometimes I turn on the microwave and forget my name for 10 seconds.

Regardless....the current Launcher 3 doesn't have that option. Maybe they bring it back for Oreo, who knows?

The Quick Setting widget the OP mentioned is a good way to handle it for now.

anyway, having a nfc icon never made much difference to me as long as the different pay services can enable the nfc service long enough to be used.

How if I have nfc off and tap a scanner for Android pay. Android pay wouldn't be able to detect it and turn nfc for the transaction and then turn it off.

my bad, android pay needs to have nfc on. it is only samsung pay that will turn it on and off.
