How do you erase an entire field of text on the Droid 4?

On the D1 if you were typing in a field and wanted to delete the entire entry you could press Alt+backspace (I think) to clear it. I can't seem to figure out how to do that on the D4 unless I hold backspace and wait for it to go through each character one by one.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Press and hold in the text field and select all to delete it. Not as easy as on the D1

The D3 does have an ALT key, right?

What I'd love to have and hold for the next cupla years would be the D4 with vanilla ICS, the D3 keyboard *layout* and battery, and the DX display. That would really work for me.

Hold Shift + "Up Arrow" + "Backspace Key"

Hold Shift + "Up Arrow" + "Backspace Key" Deletes the entire field(line in notepad)

Optionally, you can Hold Shift + "Down Arrow" + "Backspace Key" To delete from the cursor to the end of the line.

I had to figure this on my own without google.. Normally google is the answer to 99% of all problems. Hope this helps.

Ps.. Google/Motorola may have done this because it was too easy to accidentally remove a line in the past without undo functionality.
