Did you forget to take everything off the stock home screens?
I didn't notice any lag with my stock 2.0.1.
Haven't tried with 2.1 update 1 installed yet.

Mine lags a bit with 5 screens and half a dozen widgets + shortcuts. I also get 3-4 FCs a day with Helix, and I'm not exactly overloaded on apps.

I don't think Root + OC are required, but they certainly help with Helix.

Repeating what dmartins said above

If you have *stock home* and *helix* and *home++*

And you have them all full of widgets

Even though you're only using helix the other home widgets are slowing you down and causing lag

App icons don't matter as much but widgets are killers

Try stripping your other homes clean and go easy on the widgets...

half dozen should run smooth.... sounds like you have another conflict causing your force closes... helix is a good home... one of , if not , the best...

I have absolutely nothing on the stock home (no widgets, no shortcuts, nothing). I took Home++ off as well.

Admittedly Helix is pretty snappy when it is 100% clean, but I really don't have much on there. BW, 4 of the BW toggles, pure calendar and pure SMS, and a RSS feed.

I've heard BW can be the culprit, but it's just too pretty to leave off.

BW and Helix are like cotton candy in the summer, nothing but win! Experience is the judge

It works great for me. I love having extra screens. I only use 5 at this time with the fifth still empty. Not for long. Thanks for the help.
