I love Gingerbread on the Pro, and love having it rooted (kudos to P3), but have noticed that its a little trickier to freeze unwanted apps (via Titanium Backup) without stumbling upon system conflicts.

Note - I use Launcher Pro Plus for my launcher app. I also use Handcent for SMS and K9 for all my email (4 gmail/google apps accounts); no MS Exchange

Thus far, the things I have successfully frozen:
  • Bookmarks Widget
  • CityID
  • Email
  • Email Authenticator
  • Files
  • Flickr
  • Help Center
  • Home screen tips
  • LastFM
  • Messaging
  • My Verizon Mobile
  • Myspace
  • New & Weather
  • News
  • NFS Shift
  • Orkut
  • Photobucket
  • Quickoffice
  • Rich Location
  • Skype mobile
  • Skyrock Authenticator
  • Social Messaging
  • Social Messaging Services
  • Social Networking
  • Social Sharing
  • Social Status
  • Task Manager
  • Toggle Widgets
  • V Cast Apps
  • Voice Commands
  • VZ Navigator
  • Weather
  • Yahoo Contacts

Thanks for the list.

I'm surprised they didn't take some of these out themselves.

Great, i froze some other stuff with no issues except the Yahoo Mail Authenticator 2.3.3: with this frozen Contacts Storage was crashing everytime that i was trying to access Contacts or Text Messages. It's weird because none of my contacts has any yahoo email and i thought that might be the problem..

Another thing is.. Is anybody seeing 3G Mobile Hotspot in titanium backup? With Froyo i froze 3G Mobile Hotspot but with GB looks like i can't because it doesn't figure in the app list of Titanium Backup

I believe that 3g hotspot is built into the system rather than just an app in the system. Across the board on motorolas gingerbread builds, people are having a tough time figuring out how to freeze it.

Sorry for bumping this threat, however, I am very curious about the following: Why freeze apps instead of just uninstalling them?

1. It's safer because it's a reversible action
2. If certain apps are missing, it can refuse to apply a system update. Thus, you can freeze annoying apps, defrost them when a system update is available, apply the update, then refreeze your apps.
