Femtocell?

I don't know how I've never heard of this before.. if I understand correctly it is a device that connects over the internet and boosts your cell phone reception? I live in an area where I have to resend about every other text for them to go through and cannot make or receive any calls at all. If I didn't have wifi, my phone would be useless at home. Luckily, I work in the city. I read on androidcentral that verizon will assists customers with bad service to get a Femtocell? Can anyone give me more information on it, how much it might cost, how effective it is, etc? Thank you.

Basically it's like a router wireless booster but for cell phones. The device connects to the carriers network and boosts signals

Your looking at about 300 if you were to buy it online, dunno if it's cheaper to go through your carrier or not.

It's called the Verizon network extender and the one I have works great. I have read about people who have had some issues though.
