Entirely new to android, but am no stranger to the bootloader

Hi,
Am an entire stranger to android. I have previously toyed with iphones, razors and windows phones the past years. I do have zero experience with android operating system, I currently use a windows HTC P3300, which I had to search for and install an English rom, because I bought it with a Russian rom. I have just bought a D2G that I intend to switch over to after I get it rooted and unbanded.
I am a freshman.
