Anyone open this yet. I go to settings.

I go to Receive Alerts because I want to turn them all off. I get:

Presidential alerts are mandatory.

WHAT?

I may root just to override that. I don't want a president I can't stand sending things to my phone that I can't turn off.

It should just be a text message. I selected no alerts. Worse case scenario I think I would get one presidential ping.

Be careful. "They" are monitoring who turns off the Presidential alerts.

(yes, I'm joking... I hope.)

The government is broke, thus they couldn't get a MMS plan, only SMS. No presidential p.p. shots.

Okay, they're not monitoring (yet) if you turn off the President's alerts, but apparently "Among the documents [detailing the Department of Homeland Security's “intelligence gathering” practices on the web] were guidelines from DHS instructing outside contractors to monitor the web for media reports and comments that “reflect adversely” on the agency or the federal government.

‘Homeland Security’monitoring Internet for anti-govt sentiment, social unrest…
