I've stumbled upon something interesting - not sure if it has been mentioned before.

If a site has two embedded flash videos, then initiating the first one doesn't work as expected (e.g. you could see the progress bar load up, but the video does not play). However, trying to initiate the second video actually gets it going!!!

    Try it out yourself: http://wheelgun.blogspot.com/

    P
roblem is that the browser will still become unresponsive.

This actually worked on yahoo sports for the Olympics videos, it took me 3 tries tho. But couldnt get it to work for nba or baseball videos tho. Will have to play around with this technique some more...

    Thanks for the tip.

For the Olympics clips, it looked like a mobile version. I keep getting desktop versions of the nba and baseball clips. Using the stock browser.

The info about this is very confusing. We were discussing this in another thread and here's what I found as I looked around. Adobe has said "You will need to re-install Flash Player from the Android Market in order to get the binary of Flash Player that is compatible with Android 4.x devices." They have also said "Flash Player for Android is not supported on either chrome, opera, or dolphin hd on Android" but that doesn't means it won't necessarily work, just that if it doesn't they won't support it. Per Motorola's site:

    Why did Google/Motorola remove Flash?
Adobe Flash is not removed from the device; however, due to Adobe's discontinuation of Flash development, Flash Player is no longer preloaded and is not available for download from Google Play to your device. Existing installations of Flash Player may or may not play Flash video properly. Alternatively, the new HTML5 standard is on your device and is supported for Web video .
I heard Flash was no longer available, but mine seems to be working
Existing installations of Flash Player may or may not play Flash video properly. This will vary depending on the specific device configuration and on the website.

I purchased this phone because it had flash capability, why was it removed?
Flash has not been removed, it simply will not be supported moving forward, as Adobe is no longer supporting the development of Flash Player for Android 4.0

Is there an alternate application or something I can use in place of flash?
Alternatively, the new HTML5 standard is supported for Web video found on your device. Many sites already support this standard and should be viewable with no additional apps.
While we do not endorse or guarantee these solutions, or provide support for them, some owners have reported success using a 3rd party Android Applications like "Adobe AIR". You can search the Google Play Store for 3rd party applications that are available that may enable you to run the flash video on your device without a browser, providing the convenience of a native app or browser.

    What is HTML5?
HTML5 is a new standard for rich web content that is already prevalent and in wide use today.
What about the Apps in Google play, will those that required flash be updated?
Some applications may be impacted, but most developers are working to ensure compatibility. You can check the specific specs for the app you are interested in.

That was a Very nice writeup SallyC! Its something that's just messed up because "FLASH" "IS" still the standard! And its gonna be awhile till HTML5 catches up, and until then were all caught up in this crossfire!
Personally, I "did" get my phone cause it supported Flash!
So my solution was to "ROOT" my phone a couple weeks ago and Freeze everything so I'll stay on GB!
So for now I'm happy I guess! If I don't know what I might be missing with ICS, then I won't worry about it too much!
I think they should have waited a little longer and made it a PC stardard before they "limited" our phones!

Part of the problem is that most devices on ICS have no problem running Flash. The last version of Flash is officially supported on Android 4.0.X, which means on any version of ICS. So, when the ICS update first came out, no one really expected any problems. It appears to be something that is in the Motorola custom software that's causing the issue.

Honestly, that's the worst part. Moto messed something up on their end and simply chose to dismiss the necessity of flash video support for some of its users. Check out any CM9 or AOKP rom - I'd bet vanilla based ICS has no problem playing embedded flash.
