Amazing software, I just downloaded the free trial to mess with while I contemplate a full purchase -


...this video is way out of my skill level but it's quite inspiring :)

After Effects has a LOT of built in features that can be used to simulate things, and there are MANY free (and not free) plugins out there that have many functions.

For example, one that stuck out to me in this video was the water droplets. I bet you could do something like that using the Particle World tool, or Trapcode's Particular. You should be able to take an image, specify that is a particle, and then use one of those particle tools to create a bunch of particles floating in free space with some slight gravity, so they're moving a little downward.

And that was only a few seconds of the scene. And is a greatly simplified way of looking at it, there's tons more you can do...
