Device Lockup

I notice when I am typing using any program the device will occasionally lock up for about 15 secs until a prompt pops yo to wait or do a force close. Is this an OS issue? Is there an app I need to dump? Will rooting help?
Any thoughts?

The 15 second thing is a hard limit set by the android OS. I actually think the stock android "limit" is 5 seconds, but its possible Motorola adjusted it.

Generally you see the "force close" prompt in poorly designed/programmed applications.... are you using a 3rd party keyboard app? Or a 3rd party launcher?

For what it's worth -- I'm not seeing those issues. You could try rebooting the phone (turn it off, pull the battery for ~30 seconds.) As long as your getting the "force close" prompt, I don't think its a problem with the phone. It would be a problem with the phone if it simply hard locked and stopped responding....
