Cursor movement during text/searching

My wife and I both have Droid2s. We are having the same problems during texting and searching. What happens is we write a word, like "car" and the "a" gets sent to the end of the word, so it reads "cra." You can see the "a" jump to the end of the line as you type. This is happening more and more frequently and causes us to have to rewrite texts constantly. It seems to happen most often during texting or when searching in a web browser. I haven't noticed it occurring when writing emails.

I have been having the same problem with my D2, as well as my speakerphone and mute button randomly coming on and freezing my screen/losing calls. Sometimes my phone does not ring at all and my family says it goes straight to voicemail. these have started in the last couple of weeks, no changes such as apps or anything has been made.
