Could get but not receive roadrunner mail until....

I actually solved this problem but I'm not sure how. I have an airport modem and I had my Droid X on WIFI. I would receive messages but not be able to send them. After trying everything I switched to 3 G and they went right out. Apparently some airport setting was keeping them in . Anybody had this sort of thing happen that can explain it ?

I push my roadrunner mail to gmail. You do that in your gmail settings on line. Did you set up your gmail.account?
