Corded Headset issues with DroidX

I have Scosche corded headset/microphone (IRD350) that I use with my Blackberry tour to place / end calls and use it to start and stop voice notes. I also use it with my IPOD touch to start, stop, skip and control volume.

However, when I plug it into my new Droid X, I get flaky results. In the phone mode, I get the sound but the people can't hear me. In music player, the volume buttons start and stop music??

Ironically, I ran a 3.5 mm cord between the phone and my aux input on my car stereo and I could hear the people over the stereo system and they could hear me (even though I wasn't on speaker)

Is this a function of the Droid X?? Would the same issue occur on other android phones like the Incredible?

Had problems with this also. I even went to the store and replaced my phone. The refurb phone has the same issue. 3 headsets that work on blackberry don't work on DX. Mycoworker has a cheap pair that works on mine tho. Very confusing.
