I have tried searching the thread and a google search for this but can't find anything. Is there any way to change my battery icon while staying with the stock rom and theme? I am rooted using z4root and backed everything up with titanium backup and droid 2 boostrap. I have rom manager and metamorph. Any way to change the battery icon to a circle icon with a number readout?

You should be able to do this with metamorph or ninjamorph. There are how to videos on youtube for those apps. Let me know how it goes. If it don't work, I'll be able to help you better when I get home to my pc.

Should I try to get that temp to stay below this?

Definitely the lower the better. I've seen mine at 115 before, then setcpu usually steps in. Mine sits idle in the 80's with setcpu profiles set at 250mhz max. 109 isnt bad if you've been using your phone.

Ok I was just makin sure cause I haven't tried overclocking my D2 figured I better leave it alone with a locked bootloader. Ill prolly eventually download roms and themes tho. Its back down about 91 now. Mine usually idles between 80-85

Those temps sounds like mine. Even though you havent "overclocked", you can still run at 1ghz. Bring me up on the D2 and the bootloader. You cant overclock because you cant flash kernels or you cant get root(superuser)?

I believe the D2 will take slayher kernals wont they? With slayher you can OC to 1.4 or maybe 1.42 I have just read where the D2 overheats and just doesn't react well too OC'ing. You think this is true? It is still fast for being set to max: 1ghz and min: 300ghz stock from moto.

Anyway to change the white status bar to black with stock theme and rom?

I dont know if Slayher's will work. Seems I remember the D2 has an overclocked version of the D1's processor, so I could see why it wouldnt like 1.4. The reason I ask is, I came across this milestone-overclock - Project Hosting on Google Code. If your interested check the link in my sig for more info. Even if you dont oc, you can still set(lower) your voltages for a better battery. Thought I'd pass it along.

Here is a statusbar .9.png. I install these via update.zip method with the rest of the framework-res.apk. I havent tried using metamorph. This came from CM so I dont know if you would have to rename it to statusbar_background.9.png (minus the "_sq") for metamorph. Let me know how it goes.

Heres a zip with it, just in case you need it

edit: Since your working with .9.png's, heres more info: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcdxIJRSH9ypZGZzc2pxNDlfMjdnazk4OHNxZA&hl=en&pli=1
Look in contents at #3. This article goes in depth on themeing. But basically, as long as your not changing the size of the .9.png and your just swapping them or changing the color, there shouldnt be any problems.

Wow CJ thanks for the info. All though my laptop crashed back in november and I lost everything on it even the laptop itself. Im having to do everything off of my D2 including rooting and any other process. Im in the process of saving to buy a new one now but I downloaded the status bar .zip and metamorph recognized it but wouldn't install it. Maybe a rename is he fix? I can learn the terminal emuluator process if I need to also. I also could load the arrticle but no text would appear in the article just a blank page and a url at the top. What would I need to search on google to find that article?

The black picture you see using this DF app is the .9.png. I've found no way to download it from here. I'll download a D2 rom when I get home to see what those rom's call it, in case you need to rename it. That .9.png was sent from my dropbox. I'll try to pm you the link. For some reason the link shows on a pc, but not on this app.
