I rooted my bionic, installed ROM manager and ROM toolkit. When I try to reboot to recovery so I can install liberty, it won't go into recovery. I get the screen with the green Android with thetriangle with the exclamation mark in the middle. any ideas why?

Did you install Clockwork Recovery from within ROM Manager? You need to in order to boot to an alternate recovery. Sounds like you are booting into the standard Moto recovery.

Yeah, I installed it via ROM manager. I even just downloaded the update, and when I tried to reboot to recovery, it just reboots the phone, not to recovery

See where cw installed to (which card), copy the cw folder to the other card and reboot.

Do you have Bionic Bootstrap installed? I'm pretty sure it must be installed as well for the reboot into an alternate recovery to happen successfully.

Is the $3 bootstrap on the market the only one? Or is there a free one?

You can try searching as I believe there is a free one, although it is not in the Market. I paid for it to support the Dev but you may find it on this forum, rootzwiki, or xda-developers.

I found safestrap. Seemed to fix the problem so far.

Yeah. Safestrap should work fine. Don't have any 1st hand experience with it, but it seems like a pretty good alternative with some cool "dual boot" features. Belo is a link to Bionic Bootstrap recovery -- just in case ...
