Blue Tooth connectivity issues... Please help.

I use both Jawbone and LG bluetooth earpieces. Both of them drop calls when a second call comes in, and neither of them will play the Visual Voice Mail messages. Is this common, or do I just need newer earpieces? The Jawbone is less tha a year old and the LG is several years old...
