More and more mods that used to require root are being made available without root. Even better they are being made available for Free and packaged into nice little apps which are being placed on the Play Store for easy accessibility. The battery percentage mod that you can find in most roms is now available for just about any device running Android version 4.4 or better. All you have to do is download the "Battery Percent for Kit Kat" app open it and enable the feature. Grab the app from the play link below.

I think it's awesome that more and more features that used to require rooting to achieve are becoming available for non-rooted devices. I think that's a direct result of developers and device makers taking notice of what the development community provides for rooted users, and non-rooted users demands to have those same features.
See, the modding community's good works trickle down to all... :)

How is this different than going into Settings>My Device>Display and checking the box that says show battery percentage?

This is different because it places the battery percentage inside the battery instead of decreasing the battery size and putting the number beside the battery. I just installed it on my S4 and all you have do to is reboot and the number shows up. I think it's kind of cool.

I can confirm that this app DOES NOT WORK on the HTC Droid DNA.

I am not sure but I don't see anything. My battery is down to 75% so I am not sure if it is low enough to see it yet.

It works on my Moto X but it has to be below 50% before you can see anything. It may have to drop below 40% before I can actually read it clearly. I'm at 47% now.

Like I mentioned before, it doesn't work on my HTC Droid DNA.

I just installed it on my wife's DNA. Lets see if it works on her phone.

Sense had been known to cause a lot of issues with mod type apps.

Also, is the DNA even on 4.4?
