Many will say they are a waste of resources, money, and battery life.. That said I have used lookout, for quite a while and have been happy. If you are careful with what you download though, you should be fine.

You shouldnt need any, but if you do decide to download an antivirus, do not download the antivirus that the icon looks like a yellow and white pill. I have seen it cause all kinds of problems on different android devices.

I'd be in this camp. It's not needed if you're smart about what apps you download. And even with an antivirus program, it's not like a malicious app can't go undetected.

I wasn't going to have an AV app but there was that phone Trojan thing a few months back so I dwnlded Trend Micro's Mobile Security. I've used TM on my desktops and laptops for years and years, I couldn't not imagine it on my phone, too.

I tried the ESET beta but it kept disabling USB everytime that I connected my phone to the laptop. So,...it had to go.
