How important is AntiVirus software for the Android OS?

Hey guys should I get AntiVirus for my droid incredible? If so what are some recommendations?

No, as i have never (yet) heard of a virus being found on android

They mainly cause you to use more battery and make your phone run slower!

completely agree with ya. just dont download a virus and you should be fine lol.

This may be ignorant but its my view. The biggest antivirus company's have to constantly update to keep the worlds PC's protected.

The general idea of an update is to catch up, improve, make better.

So with out any virus(or minimal virus's) known to the android platform how could they protect against an unknown enemy? If you don't know how, where and what to look for how can you stop it. Once they hit in a real way, and they will then I see a need for antivirus software.

I know nothing its just my thoughts.
