One of my biggest complaints has been the 3g speed of the moto droid. I recently created a shortcut to "phone info" using "anycut."
By default, the phone is set to CDMA auto prl.
So, I changed this to "EVDO ONLY" and it seems to speed up the 3g. Likely, because you've disabled the phone. But calls will still go to vm, so if your wanting a faster 3g experience, this is a great trick.
Just don't forget to set it back to CDMA auto prl, or your phone won't work.
