Just got my driod. Did not realize till I got it home there was no desktop software. I know you can do most everything you do from desktop software directly from the phone but I like having a desktop app especially for backups.

Any recos for backups and syncing with outlook?

Thx
Ricco

If you are using Outlook at home, I would either:

1) Get something like "The Missing Sync for Android" from Keep your life in sync with The Missing Sync for Android from Mark/Space

2) Get a GMail account (they're free) and start migrating my Outlook contacts into GMail.

Software backups are not really needed anymore, apps you buy can be re-downloaded whenever you want. The individual apps themselves have their own facilities for the backup and restoration of application data.

If you are going to root the phone, there are full backup programs like Titanium Backup or Nandroid that will do a full backup.
