Wireless Tether to TV Problem

Hi,
I have a rooted EVO with the wireless tether app (most recent version). I just got a sony bravia and a universal wifi internet adapter that connects to the back of the tv. My problem is getting the wireless tether network to be recognized by the tv. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Do you have the encryption turned off?

yes encryption is off

Wireless tether uses whats called Ad-Hoc networking and most of those internet/wifi adapters cant/wont connect to a ad-hoc network.
