The only way I have found it to work was use pdanet with the cord. It keeps your phone charged and allows you to use the 3G data stream.

Good luck finding the .apk for it though... If I can find it again, I'll share it.

I have pda net and it still triggers the 3g mobile hot spot from verizon when you start the internet.
Are you guys talking about an old version?
