Wired Teathering

Can I use my droidX with a wired teather to my laptop with the cable it came with...

Are there apps to preform this, any better than any others...Do I have to root to do this?

I don't want the wifi teather jut plug the phone into the laptop and go...dancedroid

PDANet is a good one.

you can also use pdanet to do a bluetooth tether if your laptop has one so you won't need any wires.

No you don't need to root, I just found out about pdanet, and I'm on my laptop connected to my phone right now. Its awesome.

Using bluetooth is easier to set up and I think it's a bit faster. Don't have to mess with the wire.

do you still have to have to pay if you are wired? and if i remember correctly pdanet isnt a free app. how much is it and is it just one time payment?
